My work.
Magazines.
I have enjoyed working as a magazine sub-editor and writer since the early 2000s, including for major publishers Future, Immediate Media and Anthem Publishing.
Here are some titles I have worked on:
Connect (council magazine for residents of Bath & North East Somerset)
Garden Design Journal
Cycling Plus
Lead (publication for leaders who are members of the National Education Union (NEU), published by JPM)
Mollie Makes (including launch)
MS Matters (membership publication for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, published by JPM)
02 in-store magazine
Osteoporosis News (membership publication for the Royal Osteoporosis Society, published by JPM)
Paint & Draw (including launch)
Papercraft Inspirations
PC World in-store magazine
The Simple Things (including launch)
Books.
From pitch to publication, I find the work involved in creating books incredibly rewarding. I enjoyed several years with Footprint Handbooks where I worked on the South American Handbook as well as many other titles. Over the past two decades I have also edited and advised on manuscripts and book proposals for individual clients.
I particularly enjoy working with published and unpublished fiction writers, and provide manuscript assessment and editing services.
Following on from my degree in English Literature & Creative Writing, I still regularly attend courses to keep my ideas fresh and my brain sharp, as well as inform my own teaching. Courses I have taken include The Science of Storytelling at The Faber Academy in Bloomsbury, London.
